Extending A Helping Hand

Veeda recently donated a few cases of tampons to The Friendship Room, a local drop-in center in Morgantown, WV that offers support to mentally ill adults. They provide a safe home-like environment, food, and toiletries to people in need, including many homeless people. They also provide critical access to feminine hygiene supplies. For someone without the resources to buy supplies or a place to clean up, getting your period can become a real crisis, as this recent article illustrates. Unfortunately, tampons and pads are usually not the first things that come to mind when people are making donations to organizations that serve the homeless population. That’s why the Friendship Room has developed a great way of stretching their feminine hygiene supplies so that they can always be sure to have enough on hand for the women that come to them. These pink “Moon Bags” are filled with donated products like tampons and pads, plus a mini chocolate, and are given out to women who need supplies for their periods. It’s a creative and caring solution that lets the Friendship Room help more women experience their period with dignity, and Veeda is excited to help with our donation of natural cotton tampons. We hope you’ll join the effort by donating toiletries and feminine care supplies to your local shelters and charities.
