The Real Meaning Of #GivingTuesday

#ThankfulTuesday

Let’s be honest: You’re probably still stuffed from Thanksgiving dinner. And you’re probably still recovering from all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals (our sale is actually ongoing this entire week, so be sure to check that out).

Delicious meals and deep discounts are part of the holiday fun, but this season is also about giving back to our communities and considering the needs of others. Today is #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to fostering the spirit of generosity across the world. To mark this occasion, we wanted to take a deeper look at why giving back is important, how it can affect your health, and ways you can pay it forward right now.

Feeling Good Through Giving

Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of The How Happiness and psychology professor at the University of California, Riverside, tracked study participants who performed acts of kindness and giving. Her findings were pretty similar to what was discovered in a previous Harvard study: Those who gave financially and through volunteerism felt happier than those who didn’t. Makes sense when you consider that the act of giving evokes gratitude and social connectivity.

It’s also good for your physical health: Research suggests that altruism promotes lifespan longevity, reduced stress, and blood pressure.

“Being kind and generous leads you to perceive others more positively and more charitably,” Lyubomirsky explains in her book. “Generosity fosters a heightened sense of interdependence and cooperation in your social community.”

Give Back, Pay it Forward

Consider giving back to your favorite local or global charitable organizations this #GivingTuesday. You can volunteer for a couple hours at a food bank in your neighborhood, or send money to a children’s hospital. You can also show appreciation and gratitude by simply waving hello to people you walk by on the street. In the year 2020, a little kindness really goes a long way!

A few other ideas we really love: Send an old-fashioned handwritten note, hold the door open at a store, pay for someone’s coffee order. You’ll be doing good while also feeling good. It’s a win-win and a sure way to share the smiles.

Our Giving Plan

Naturalena Brands, the parent company of Veeda and Happy Little Camper, has always prioritized giving back. We believe eco-friendly personal care should be conveniently accessible to everyone. We are proud to financially support, provide educational resources, and donate much-needed period care and baby care products to those in need.

We donate to local and global communities to positively impact charitable organizations and the people they serve. Veeda has donated 75,000 sanitary pads to World Vision for its work in Africa, and has supported Harbor House, Women in Distress, and The Lotus House

Through Happy Little Camper, we’ve helped families in need through Baby2Baby, Austin Diaper Bank in Texas, the Salvation Army, and organizations working to combat the devastating effects of the California wildfires.

We’re completely focused on natural, hypoallergenic, and GMO free period care and baby care that’s good for you and good for the planet. Our hope is that we can all do our part to give back and spread kindness each and every day for a better world.

There is a stigma around periods that overall, they suck - cramps hurt, women get very emotional, and our mood can change like a flick of a light switch! However, PMS doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing if you work with your period rather than against it. Yes, cramps still suck, and it can be difficult controlling your up and down emotions, but once you are able to distinctly recognise your personal menstrual cycle, you can use it to your advantage!
