Veeda donated products to fight the homelessness in Los Angeles County

On any given night, 58,423 people are homeless in Los Angeles County and there are many causes throughout LA trying to help people, one-at-a-time, find their way off the streets. One of those causes is PATH – People Assisting The Homeless and Do Good Bus Organization, so we have partnered with them to deliver essential hygiene kits to homeless people in Los Angeles County.

If you haven’t been to PATH in Hollywood, it’s worth a visit.  The facilities and services they offer to the Los Angeles homeless community are pretty incredible.

We visited PATH with 50 students from Miguel Contreras Learning Complex to tour the facility and create over 150 hygiene kits to distribute via the PATH Street Outreach Program that will be distributed in 28 cities.

Since the students are involved in a special track at school focusing on business & tourism, we lead discussions that focused on ways the students can build their community by using the business skills they are learning in classroom.

The PATH team stressed the importance of seeing people that are experiencing homelessness as members of our community that are simply going through a challenging time in their lives. Sometimes something just as simple as a smile or eye contact helps lift the spirits of those in need. In order to help the students become more comfortable with communication and eye contact we played a game where students had to talk to one another with focused eye contact for a full two minutes each.

The kits included the following items and handmade positive notes from the students

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Tissues
  • Bandaids
  • Veeda Natural Cotton Tampons & Pads
  • Blue Lizard Sunscreen
  • Rolaids
  • Toothpaste tablets
  • Cotz Sunblock
  • Hair bands
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
